Suicide Merge project is on hold for now
Looks like nobody liked the proposed options, so the County is backing off for now.
” Charleston County Eliminates SC 7 and SC 171 Intersection Improvements Project Charleston County Transportation Development will not pursue the SC 7 and SC 171 Intersection Improvements Project following the latest review of citizen comments. Staff will now design alternative improvements throughout the study area including additional multi-use paths and providing congestion relief. “
Smoke testing for the sewers
We got a hangtag on the door today advising that Charleston Water System (CWS) will be doing smoke testing in the neighborhood from 23 July through 6 August 2019. As usual this means you might see some white smoke coming out of the ground. It’s harmless, they tell us.

New automated trash collection coming
If these trucks are anything like the county recycling trucks, they probably won’t fit into the cul-de-sacs (or they’ll try and just tear up curbs, trees, bushes, etc).
Consider moving your trash cans to Charing Cross or Leicester if you live on Paddington or Portsmouth.
