Dear Neighborhood Association Presidents:
The trash collection is behind as a result of the shortage of available CDL drivers. I have been in contact with the director overseeing the scheduling of trash pick-up. Please advise me if the trash has not been collected by this afternoon. I am sorry for this inconvenience, however the shortage of drivers is a problem the Department of Public Works has been facing recently.

Pretty smashed up, but apparently still working, Motorola phone found in Parkshore III. My husband texted the number on the screen to try to let someone the owner knows know where the phone is, but has not heard back. He charged it up in case someone is trying to find it. Please spread the word!
Thanks to Pam Luhn for speaking to the crew working at the intersection of Windsor and Poston today for this update:
The Charleston Water System Wastewater department is planning to excavate the area at the intersection of Poston and Windsor due to a collapsed sewer main. The work will begin August 12th and is expected to take about two weeks to complete. Residents will experience disruptions to the flow of traffic in and out of the neighborhood. There may be flag men to direct traffic and there is also the potential for traffic to be routed through the Parkshore building parking lot.
Questions can be asked by calling 843-308-8214 Mon-Fri between 8am and 4:30pm.
Between 9am-2pm Thursday 8/12 Dominion is scheduled to replace at least one transformer between Paddington Circle and Leicester. Power is likely going to be out for at least two hours, at least for those connected to that transformer. They also plan to do some tree cutting in the area adjacent to the unit. There may be other units / homes affected.
Various City departments are working to fill the sink holes that have developed near the Synagogue. Please be mindful as there is currently a temporary plate covering the hole.
Neighbors – the City of Charleston Stormwater dept, pothole repair crew and Water System teams are working in our neighborhood repairing some road issues. You might have seen them near the intersection of Poston Rd and Windsor Dr. They have requested that, if you have a grated drain in front of your house or near your house, could you please make sure it is clear of debris on the top. Let’s all do our part to help keep the system working!
Guidance from the City of Charleston regarding Tropical Storm Elsa includes the request to please not place your garbage and recycling bins to the curb until Thursday morning, and remove any curbside debris as well.
Please share this information with your neighbors. Loose debris in a storm with high winds can become hazardous, causing significant injury to persons and damage to property.

The Charleston Public Service Department would like to make citizens aware that our normal trash collection schedule is off one day as a result of the City’s Monday observance of Juneteenth.
Since our normal collection day for garbage collection is Wednesday, it will be pushed back to Thursday.
The Charleston County recycling schedule has not changed.
