» Bagged pet waste can’t be included with yard waste. Please refrain from tossing pet waste into yard bags as you walk your pet. The yard waste collection crews will not collect bagged pet waste if they see it and it gets tossed to the ground. Please take it home to your garbage can or toss it at one of the public trash bins at the park.

Litter Cleanup – Volunteers Welcome!

Please mark your calendar and help cleanup Northbridge walkway (recreation path between Tumbleston and Northbridge Park along Sam Rittenberg Blvd) on Saturday, March 13th 9 am-12 noon! The rain date is March 20th. Keep Charleston Beautiful will provide trash bags, grabbers and vests.

Trash Pickup On One Day Delay for MLK Jr Holiday

The City of Charleston will be closed on Monday, January 18th  for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  In order to provide service to all residents in a timely manner, garbage and trash collection will take place on the modified schedule outlined below.

For Daniel Island and Cainhoy (Capitol Waste) there will be no schedule changes.
For outer West Ashley and Johns Island (Carolina Waste) there will be no schedule changes.
The Peninsula, Inner West Ashley and James Island (City Crews) will run on a one day delay.  For example, if your garbage is normally picked up on Monday the week of the 18th  it will be picked up on Tuesday.

Formula business districts are regulatory overlays that are designed to promote independent businesses and exclude certain national chain uses, some local examples are the City of Folly Beach and Town of Sullivan’s.  It is also a regulatory tool that has been used by cities nationwide.

City of Charleston 2020 Holiday Events Update

Charleston, S.C.–This holiday season,the city of Charleston will hold the following holiday events. NOTE: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Holiday Parade and Holiday Boat Parade have been cancelled.

From December 5, 2020 through December 20, the Charleston Holiday Market in Marion Square will be held Saturdays and Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. COVID protocols will be in place at the markets including additional spacing between vendors, hand washing/sanitizing stations and the requirement that all vendors and patrons wear masks and maintain social distancing throughout the events. The markets will feature 36 vendors on Saturdays and 24 vendors on Sundays including farm products, packaged food vendors, artisans and crafters.

On Sunday, December 6, a virtual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held on the City of Charleston Facebook Page, www.facebook.com/CityCharleston.

On Sunday, December 13, Chanukah in the Square, which is normally held in Marion Square, will take place in a drive-in format at The Bend on Azalea Drive in North Charleston.

On Friday, December 18 at 6 p.m. there will be a virtual holiday greeting from the City of Charleston and Mayor John Tecklenburg via the City of Charleston Facebook Page.

From now until January 1, 2021, the city is providing 2 hours of free parking downtown with this year’s Holiday Magic in Historic Charleston parking voucher. The voucher can be downloaded here: https://www.charleston-sc.gov/DocumentCenter/View/28006/2020-Holiday-Parking-Voucher.

City Announces COVID-19 Regulations for West Ashley Holiday Market

Charleston, S.C.—The city of Charleston today announced plans for the West Ashley Holiday Market in Ackerman Park, which will take place on Sunday, November 22, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 55 Sycamore Avenue and will provide citizens an opportunity to shop local in preparation for the holidays.

Due to the ongoing situation related to COVID-19 in South Carolina, all vendors and patrons will be required to wear masks and maintain social distancing throughout the event.

Sanitation stations will be set up throughout the park, as well as signage designed to guide customers safely from vendor to vendor.

The market will feature the following farmers and growers: Robert Fields Farm, Oliver Freeman Farm, Gruber Farms and R & R Acres.

Products from packaged food vendors Carya Pecan Milk, Charleston Artisan Cheesehouse, Charleston Spice Co., Olinda Olives & Olive Oil and Rio Bertolini’s Fresh Pasta will also be available.

Additionally, the following artisans and crafters will be present: Amanda McLenon Fine Art, By His Designs, The Charleston Soap Chef, Christmas Touch of Nature, Grit & Grace Studio, Ideas in Metal, Jen Cruitt Designs, Lauren Shuler Designs, Market Mutts, Peachy Keen, SLO Fiber Studio and Zola Jewelry.

Free parking is available immediately adjacent to the park.
