Check out the Charleston Animal Society’s

2022 STEP UP FOR SHELTERS CHALLENGE

DON’T JUST TAKE YOUR DOG FOR A WALK…TAKE YOUR WALK FOR A DOG!

Did you know that every time you take a walk with your dog at home, you can help us raise money for animals in the shelter? Boehringer Ingelheim, makers of HEARTGARD® Plus (ivermectin/pyrantel) and NexGard® (afoxolaner), will donate to Charleston Animal Society for each level you achieve on the WoofTrax app– up to $10,000! The individual and the pack who raise the most money will be recognized at our Paws in the Park event on March 19th at Riverfront Park by Animal Planet’s Travis Brorsen.

Trash Collection / Meeting Update

Dear Neighborhood Association Presidents:

The trash collection is behind as a result of the shortage of available CDL drivers. I have been in contact with the director overseeing the scheduling of trash pick-up. Please advise me if the trash has not been collected by this afternoon. I am sorry for this inconvenience, however the shortage of drivers is a problem the Department of Public Works has been facing recently.

The Zoom link for tonight’s coffee and conversation with Peter is pasted below.

Found: Cell Phone

Pretty smashed up, but apparently still working, Motorola phone found in Parkshore III. My husband texted the number on the screen to try to let someone the owner knows know where the phone is, but has not heard back. He charged it up in case someone is trying to find it. Please spread the word!

Pipe Repair Update

Thanks to Pam Luhn for speaking to the crew working at the intersection of Windsor and Poston today for this update:

  1. The original pipes are terra cotta
  2. They are 20 ft or so deep
  3. The pipes are 10 feet in length each
  4. Several joists dropped
  5. The pipes were filling with dirt so water couldn’t filter through hence the water backed up and eroded the dirt holding up the road
  6. They dug up road, hopefully cleaned out pipes and covered them in some kind of pvc
  7. Filled road hole with granite and other stuff
  8. Some thoughts were over the years heavier traffic came through, trucks, etc, that put pressure on whatever was under the road hence weakening the joists
  9. The area is scheduled for paving on Monday August 30th
